You may have a newer smartphone that has some fantastic capabilities that are present on your DSLR you didn't know about. This session is all about embracing the use of a Smartphone in lieu of a DSLR.
Whether you own a DSRL, or perhaps want to see the features you can use on your smartphone - this session will be perfect for you!
Christmas Street & Shooting HMS Warrior Meetup

Christmas lights are a great subject for photography and there are plenty to capture in and around Portsmouth! We will experiment with night photography to shoot HMS Warrior in her Christmas lights.
This will be suitable for all levels and a modern smartphone will suffice if you don't want to carry a camera. A tripod will be useful of you have one and want to try more advanced techniques.

In this workshop, we will explore the art of capturing the beauty and magic of the winter season through photography.

We will look at use of contrast, shapes and textures. How does the camera see the image and how do we create Black and White images in a camera or in post-production. We will learn to see the world in a different way and create some unique images.
All levels of ability are welcome and no special equipment is required.
Long Exposure Photography Meetup

If you really want to make use of the long Winter evenings as we head in Autumn, and to add an extra flair to your photography, then long exposure photography may be for you!
Long exposure is where we make use of very slow shutter speeds to allow as much light into our camera as possible. The effect? Light trails, blurring, smearing, and obscuring of moving elements with a creative (sometimes ghostly) effect. The fundamental for night-time photography, astrological and abstract ideas.
This meet up is for all abilities whether you are an advanced photographer, or a complete beginner, you are very welcome.
We will meet in the heart of Old Portsmouth on Spice Island to see the wandering busy streets, view the boats in the harbour (and potentially focus on the night sky if we have a clear night as it is a new moon phase!)
